I took my new to me ring to be resized. I love the people here, they have cleaned my ring for free 2x in the past, even though I did not buy the ring there. They give good advise, so when I needed this ring resized I thought of them. Well, they did a great job, no sign of the change that was made, and the ring was ready faster than they promised. The price was good I know it seems odd that some people have such a different experience, but mine was really good!
I brought in a multi stand silver bracelet for repair this summer. When it was finished it was so poorly done that several of the strands were stuck together and my bracelet was virtually ruined. I brought it to another jeweler and they were able to repair some of the damage done by Newport jewelers but not all of it. It cost me15.00 for the repair ( which the jewelers wife threw back at me minus the tax when I pointed out the bad repair job) 35.00 for another jeweler that couldn't repair all of the damage done and my bracelet will never be like it was.
This was by far the worst jewelery experience I have ever had. My fiance and I bought rings in another state and decided to have them resized locally. They sized my fiance's rings incorrectly, returned all 3 of our rings (including my fiance's grandmother's engagement ring) with many scuffs and dings. The bands were severely misshapen and my fiance's ring was permanently damaged where the diamonds were set. Upon calling to rectify the situation, we were told to bring them in but we were not getting a refund. Both the employees we talked to were incredibly rude and when we did bring the rings back in to show what had happened, we were told to "take (him) to court", "call the police", etc, but that the only thing they would do would be to "make it right". Needless to say, we didn't want them to touch our rings again, not to mention, there is no way to repair some of the damage that was done. After heated arguments lasting more than 30 minutes we did get our money back but will NEVER give them business or recommend them to ANYONE in the future. After the fiasco, we found a friend who had had the same experience with shoddy workmanship on ring sizing and she has had to fix her rings TWICE since bringing into Newport Jewelers. This place should NOT be in business.
